Microsoft Partners With FUTA , Scores Graduates High

Alumni of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) have been described as trailblazers taking the lead in championing technological innovation locally and globally. An alumnus of the University and citizenship manager, Microsoft, Nig. Limited Mr. Olusola Amusan stated this during a Microsoft skill acquisition and empowerment seminar organized by FUTA Alumni in the employ of Microsoft Nigeria Limited for students of the Institution. He said top information Technology (IT) firms like Intel, Google and Microsoft; prefer the services of FUTA graduates because they exhibit a high level of intelligence and competence. Amusan disclosed that most companies are always on the lookout for FUTA graduates, and commended staff for their commitment to developing and improving the status of the students. He disclosed that FUTA was the first to develop a partnership programme with Microsoft. 
Amusan who said FUTA Alumni are great minds applying technology for self-reliance across the globe, expressed elation at being an integral part of the giant strides the University has been taking over the years. He said FUTA created an enabling environment for greatness because the University Management is favourably disposed to accepting partnership that increases the versatility of students. He expressed hope that the training will bridge the gap between the work place and students and train students to build Apps that will promote economic vibrancy.

Declaring the workshop open the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola lauded the organizers for ploughing their resources and efforts to the development of the University in appreciation of the life-long investment of their Alma Mata. He said “The fact you have crossed the bridge to the success land and decided to bring others across the bridge is a testimony to your desire to help others achieve their dreams” Professor Daramola urged participants to utilize the opportunity the workshop accorded them to enhance their skills and endeavour to put what they learn to practice to further their academic activities and entrepreneurship development. The Vice-Chancellor challenged Alumni who are entrepreneurs to take a cue from them and place their mark on the sands of time by building the future of coming generations.
Participants were taught Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Azure skills and Path finding and how to achieve optimum employability status through effective CV writing.
The Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Ajayi and Dean, Students Affairs, Professor Kayode Alese said that FUTA Alumni were a constant pride to their Alma Mata. They said Microsoft chose to partner with FUTA because of the technical expertise of FUTA Alumni in their employ and commended the ‘give back’ culture imbibed by Amusan and his group.
