Victor Ndoma-Egba scholarship programme is still on says the ex-senate leader.
Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba has denied reports that he has stopped a private scholarship scheme which he instituted in 2013.
Ndoma-Egba, the immediate past Senate Leader, told Daily Trust in recent interview that the scheme is still running despite the rumors.
“The scholarship programme is still on,” he said.
But some beneficiaries of the scheme studying post-graduate and undergraduate programmes at various tertiary institutions in Nigeria, alleged that they have not received the funds since the turn of the year.
Some of them expressed fears that the management of the scholarship is deliberately refusing to pay them.
Senator Ndoma-Egba however said the scheme has no connection with his political activities and is being managed by an independent board.
“It is not political,” the Senator said.
“I have not received any complaints whatsoever.
“If there are issues, the scholarship board would have drawn my attention to them.”
Ndoma-Egba has been a member of the Senate since 2003.
