The SUG President of the University of Benin has declared today a lecture-free day. This is to give room for a peaceful protest following the death of a student named Rita[picture attached] who lost her life after being hit by an overspeeding military van in front of the school's Main Gate on Sunday morning.

Rita and her friend were hit by the zooming vehicle but the latter[her friend] survived it. Both are students of the Department of Philosophy.

Many students have lost their lives in this same way and what we now want is the construction of speedbrakes outside the school.
