GSS scholarships are given to international students who have shown great academic ability and achievement by the University of Tokyo.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The graduate school of science established a new scholarship known as “Graduate School of Science” (GSS) scholarship for international students. The scholarship assists international students financially for a period of five years beginning from when they register for a master degree course till they finish a three year PhD course. Students are provided with some options financially that can help take care of some costs such as scholarships, urgent loans, forms e.t.c. The scholarship provides a monthly allowance of 150,000 yen from October 2015 to September 2020. Only a few scholarships will be given and the scholarship will be done in Japan. The award will last from October 2015 to September 2020.
ELIGIBILITY
Students who sponsor or personally support themselves and have very good grades and have passed the entry exams for the master’s program at the graduate school of science and who are in Japan as a new student will be eligible for the program in October 2015. Those who receive other scholarships from the beginning of October 2015 will not be eligible. If it is known that a candidate has received another scholarship, such candidate may be asked to withdraw from the GSS scholarship. Based on documents submitted, the selection committee will nominate and select candidates to the dean.
