Over seventy-six (76) Christian student fellowships operating Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka have been banned by the management to avert crisis in the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Vincent Peretemode, announced the ban in a statement published quoted in a Punch report.
He said the high number of fellowships may lead to crisis if not nipped in the bud.
“I have observed in the recent times that over 80 fellowship centres are on the three campuses,” Peretemode said.
“We cannot allow such. Fellowship centres have in recent time portended crisis that was almost unabated.”
According to him, only four fellowship centres –
Catholic, Anglican, Joint Christian Campus Fellowship, and Our Saviours
Chapel, are approved to operate.
Peretemode revealed that the management had long been worried about the high number of fellowships in its campuses.
A ban was also placed on the wearing of miniskirts in the institution.
