The Director of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dutse Study Centre, Jigawa, Dr Abdullahi Abubakar, has dismissed the call for unionism in the university.
Abubakar told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that NOUN was unlike other conventional universities where students were in one place and shared common feelings and aspirations.
According to him, under the NOUN system, every student is to himself and nothing makes it necessary for them to know one another.
The director stated that NOUN only provided academic support for the students to enable them realise their goals.
Abubakar lauded the Vice Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Vincent Tenebe, for moving the institution forward; stressing that within his tenure, there had been four consecutive convocations. (NAN)
