There was pandemonium at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus today following a fire outbreak in one of the female hostels in the institution.
Reports has it that the fire started around 8pm on Wednesday in one of the rooms of the hostel called Okeke hall and spread to other rooms. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained at the moment.
There was no casualty reported, as students are said to be on Christmas holiday. However, the property left behind by the students has been razed.
Some of the students contacted lamented the absence of any emergency fire-fighting response unit at the scene which could have checkmated the spread of the fire.
