How To Obtain New Or Renew Old Driver's Licence In Nigeria

How to renew a DRIVER’S LICENCE:

Step 1: Apply online at http://www.nigeriadriverslicence.org, fill in the fields of the appropriate form. Print it out upon completion. Don’t forget to print out the payment form as well!

Step 2: Pay the licence fee online or at the designated bank.

Step 3: Present your form to the Board of Internal Revenue Officer or VIO at the Driver’s Licence Centre (DLC) for endorsement.

Step 4: Proceed to FRSC Officer at the DLC for Biometric Data Capturing.

Step 5: A temporary driver’s licence, valid for 60 days, will be provided to you.

How to obtain a NEW DRIVER’S LICENCE:

Step 1: Complete training at an accredited driving school.
Step 2: The school would present you to the VIO for driving test.
Step 3: Pass the driving test. The VIO issues you a Certificate of Proficiency.
Step 4: Apply in person at the DLC.
Step 5: Pay the licence fee online or at the designated banks.
Step 6: Present your form to the Board of Internal Revenue Officer or VIO at the DLC for endorsement.
Step 7: Proceed to FRSC Officer at the DLC for Biometric Data Capturing.
Step 8: A temporary driver’s licence, valid for 60 days, will be provided to you.


It would be noted that the latest driver’s licence of Nigeria type is being recognised by three states in the U.S.A., California, Maryland and Washington DC, and seven countries in on the European continent (Austria, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey). 


The authorities are doing their best to expand this list.

• Click on DL Application
• Click on Re-Issue of Driver’s Licence from the drop down for VALID Driver’s Licence or Renewal of Driver’s Licence for EXPIRED Driver’s Licence
• Supply Driver’s Licence Number and Date of Birth in the dialog box that opens
• Click on search
• Click Ok from the pop up box, after confirming the Drivers Licence number to be correct
• This will pull up your information as supplied when you processed the New Driver’s Licence
• If it does not pull up your data, means your New Driver’s Licence is Fake and is not in FRSC Data Base

THIS MEANS THAT THE NEXT TIME YOU WILL BE GOING FOR A RENEWAL, YOU WILL BE APPLYING FOR A FRESH ONE INSTEAD.
