The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Academic Excellence Awards has been awarded to the best scholars in the 2014 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This year's National Distinction and Merit Awards went to Master Samuel Nder from Benue State; Miss Onyinye Oguejiofor from Anambra state; and Master Oluwatobi Raji from Lagos state, as they all scored A1 in all their subjects.
18-year-old Samuel Nder, with exam number 4081345036, recorded A1 in Economic, Geography, English Language, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics with total T-score of 659.4325 to emerge the overall best.
Nder, who attended Vaatia College, Makurdi, Benue state is currently studying Software Engineering at Saint Peterburg’s Electro-Technical University in Russia.
The Second position went to Onyinye Oguejiofor formerly of Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje, Anambra state with a total T-score of 648.5706. She is currently studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
The award ceremony was held during the 53rd Annual Meeting of Nigera National Committee (NNC) of West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Thursday, November 26 in Akure, Ondo state.
