Most Nigerian students are often times discouraged when they think about the money aspect of schooling due to the fact that they do not get enough funds from their parents, and the Nigerian educational system would not allow for "School n work" options.
So as a result, these students are faced with one very big question- How can i make some more money while schooling?
Be it as it may, i will like to use this opportunity to encourage all students to keep on the struggle for their rewards are close around the corner.
So, how can i make some extra cash while schooling?
There are only a few legit ways to make an extra cash in Nigerian University, Polytechnic environment and these will be listed below:
As a student, you can make a little cash rendering any of the following services to your fellow students or those who may just be in need of such services whether students or not.
1 OFFER BAKING SERVICES: This is most common with ladies who are endowed with the gift of creativity. You can offer to bake cakes for your class mates and departmental friends especially during their birthdays and matriculation and from this, you gain a lot of popularity as more people will keep coming especially when your cakes are beautiful and sweet. Apart from baking cakes, you can also shoulder the sales of other baked products like Fish Roll, Beans Pye, Egg Roll, Chin-Chin, Plantain Chips OR kpekere as you could call it and so many others. I know most students actually leave their houses on empty stomachs and so, they will need something to hold the stomach with before they go back to their hostels or lodge to make lunch or dinner and this where your baking will fetch you more income than you ever anticipate. more to this, you can even bake these products and supply to retailers at a discounted price. this will help you sell more units and thereby make extra cash for other expenses that may become necessary like handouts, textbooks, departmental dues and others.
2 OFFER TO COMPLETE TASKS FOR YOUR CLASS MATES
This is A university environment and as it is, you are sure to meet people from different backgrounds, persons who actually have no time for stress at all, people who find it difficult to complete their class tasks. Especially engineering students, They are known to be the most busy of all students but believe me, there are those who get the good grades with their money. These are the kinds of persons you can offer help to for an extra charge. Its not really like cheating, its just makes you more experienced because you have to do the same task you've done before over and over again and by this, you keep earning a little sum. I know the guys will be very interested in this especially when the offer is coming from one of those nice chicks.
3 OFFER TECH REPAIRS AND PHONE PIMPING SERVICES FOR SOME AMOUNT
Its the global age where everyone owns a small gadget with which he/she can reach the world, interact with friends over the social network and many other things like playing the latest song in town. As a result of these, people will always need someone with a repair skill especially when these gadgets are faulty. It could also come in form of helping people solve problems on their tablets, tweaking configurations to help them surf the internet for free, fixing some broken parts of their phones like screen, casing, flashing and unlocking of phones, and so many other services you can easily do within a short time.
I actually remember how much i made when i made my self available at a shop very close to my hostel, then i owned a small laptop and with it, i could download songs for people, install android, Symbian applications on their phones, help format their laptops and install new operating system for their laptops, etc. They actually appreciate these services and will pay a little fee for it and the more they pay, the more your pocked swells.
Anyone with basic computer skills can do this and earn extra income for himself
4 RENDER SOME AFTER SCHOOL SERVICES
After school services are the kinds of services you can render with no much stress, i want to use this definition so that it can be easy for you to understand. services like charging of phones is very lucrative especially as most school environments are characterised by low or total power supply.
Take for example, Abraka is home to one of Nigeria's most populated schools, Delta state university, as a result, power supply is low. Because of the low or no power supply, students are often times faced with the problem of looking for where to charge their phones in order to be able to reach their parents at home or get the information they may need to complete their assignments from from the internet.

Weekends are free days for everyone and using this free days well can also afford you some extra cash. so what can you do during the weekends? As a student, you live in an environment where the demand for housing is ever increasing and for this reason, construction sites will always exist.
You can make yourself available at construction sites and show interest in the work done, ask for a portion and be determined to make it, with this i promise you that by the time you are ready to go home for the day, you're sure to walk home with N2000 or more. The amount you take home will surely depend on how skilled you are or the nature of environment you find your self. what i am sure of is that so long as you are in a place where construction work is regular, you can never go broke except of you are the lazy type.
With these 5 ways, i am certain that you can make an extra cash for yourself there in school. i also would like to call on those who live on student environment to welcome them when they come to you with what they can do. By so doing, you give them a good reason to keep cool and be of good behavior because the rate of crime in the society is on the increase and i am sure you'd agree with the fact that a hungry man is an angry man. So extend your help to these students when they come to you.
