A few go further to pursue good second class upper while even a further few work hard for the much revered first class degrees.
In the end, only small fractions of those who strive to good degrees get it.
However, some just keep going for it and breaking records all the way as encomiums shower on them.
One of them is Onoriode Reginald Aziza, a triple first class honours graduate in the daunting field of law.
Aziza began his hat trick at the Obafemi Awolowo University OAU),
Ile-Ife, where he had a first class degree, the first in four academic
sessions, though admitted at the tender age of 15.
To prove he really did know his onions, the amazing student got into the
Yenagoa Campus of the Nigerian Law School, aged 20, and repeated the
first class trick.
Aziza put the icing on the first class cake in June 2015, at the prestigious Cambridge University.
There, Aziza scored his hat trick, merging with a first class Masters of Corporate Law (MCL) Degree.
In his profile published by Bella Naija, Aziza captured the feeling.
“The 1st first-class felt good, the 2nd first class felt great; the 3rd
was outright emotional: saying I was on the Mt. Everest of ecstasy does
not do justice to the feeling!" he wrote.
And for him, the feat is achievable for anyone, and he gave a word to other potential achievers like him.
"I can attest to the fact that I was born with no knowledge of
commercial law, civil litigation, or competition law: knowledge of the
law resides in the pages of books.
Academic excellence therefore does not reside in in-born gifts but in unrepentant effort.
"Irrespective of your circumstances, I urge you to set the goal, raise the bar, and pursue.
"Dreams
are neither too big nor goals too high, but minds are either too small
to conceive them or arms too short to achieve them."
For someone with that impeccable record in Law studies, you just have to believe and go for your own dream.
Here is one to excellence, here is one for Onoriode Reginald Aziza.
