Students at the University of Ibadan (UI) on Thursday morning marched
out numbering in their hundreds shunning school activities for the day
to protest the death of a 200L Human Kinetics student of the
institution.
The deceased, Mayowa Alaran, is reported to have slumped after suffering from an asthma attack while watching a football match at his hostel hall late yesterday night.
Mayowa was rushed to one of the school medical centres by his colleagues, but the nurses told them they will not attend to him except they present his clinic card. Mayowa later died some minutes afterwards due to lack of medical attention.
The aggrieved students who protested his death, blocked the Mokola-Oojo road, which made a lot of motorists turn back. Some of them were heard saying the school’s health officials killed the boy.
