THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State said it arrested a 35-year-old school teacher for alleged defilement of a 12-year-old JSS I student.
The NSCDC Commandant, Mr Muhammad Gidado, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Thursday.
Gidado said that the suspect, a classroom teacher in a Junior Secondary School, allegedly committed the offence on Wednesday at 5.00 p.m. in one of the toilets in the school.
He explained that the matter was reported to the NSCDC by a teacher in the school after he noticed the duo coming out from the toilet.
The commandant added that the girl was interrogated and she confessed that the teacher had been having carnal knowledge of her for a long time.
He said that the suspect was invited by corps and the teacher confessed that he committed the offence.
Gidado said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
