The International Space Apps Challenge is an international mass collaboration focused on space exploration that takes place over 48hours in cities around the world. The event embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open source solutions to address global needs applicable to both life on earth and life in space. This year we have over 30 challenges in four areas: Earth, Outer Space, Humans and Robotics. NASA is leading this global collaboration along with a number of government collaborators and over 100 organizing teams across the globe.

INTERNATIONAL
The Exploration of Space is by necessity a unified international effort, and Nigeria is not left out as diversity of experience and perspective inevitably produces a better product.
This year, Ilorin would be joining Lagos, Calabar and over 130 cities worldwide in bringing together teams of technologists, students, scientists, designers, artists, and developers to collaborate and engage with publicly available data to design innovative solutions for global challenges.

CHALLENGES
The Idea of a Challenge is so compelling because it acknowledges the fact that the world is facing serious challenges – and that we all have to work together to approach them. While this year, 2 Finalists teams from Ilorin would be offered prizes and then fly to Lagos to compete at the National finals, the global award includes an opportunity to attend a NASA launch.
Globally, the focus is to enable 48hours of highly engaged collaboration by utilizing openly available data, supplied through NASA missions and technology as well as the talent of volunteers from the planet to advance space exploration and improve the quality of life on Earth.

PARTICIPATION
Interested participants should register at http://2015.spaceappschallenge .org and signup to attend at their preferred city. Everyone is encouraged to take a look at the challenges, start brainstorming on possible solutions now and form teams or decide to join a team at the event.
