The Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Chris Bolu, has hinted that the university is in a hurry to become the best university in the world.
Prof. Bolu made this assertion while representing the Vice Chancellor in a media chat Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, in company of FUOYE News Bulletin crew at Ikole.
He commended the Federal Government for providing funds for the construction of the different edifices that dot the entire landscape of the university today.
The Dean disclosed that as at the moment, the university at three years, has faculty buildings, administrative complexes, ICT complexes in the two campuses and an Engineering workshop under construction, not to mention the Faculty of Agricultures large farm and Engineering workshop.
He disclosed that the university was building (in both campuses) state-of-the-art hostels complete with swimming pool and other recreational facilities. This according to him will be the first of its kind in this part of the world.
Celebrating the achievements of the university in such a short period of its existence, Professor Bolu recollected that the young university has recently been ranked 16th among all Nigerian universities in the 2015 Webometrics ranking.
He however noted that though the Federal Government has provided funds for the university, this has not been enough. He likened the Government to a mother with 12 children and with limited resources to cater for their needs.
