Two candidates that sat for the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME computer base test have been arrested by the security agents for alleged malpractices during the test that took place weekend. The candidates were arrested at Esa-Oke, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
The candidates were alleged to have conspired with one Mr. Adebayo a.k.a Awolowo, the owner of Awolism Educational Consultant to perpetrate the unlawful act.
It was learnt that the candidates committed the offense during the computer based test at Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.
Speaking with journalists on the incident, the Coordinator of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Osun state, Mr. Johnson Adebiyi decried the attitude of the candidates, saying the board would continue to do everything within its limit to eradicate examination malpractice in the board’s examination.
Adebiyi who said the board would sustain its zero tolerance for examination malpractice in the line with the commitment of the Management of JAMB led by Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde. He also added that there was no hidden place for perpetrators of the act.
He called on candidates to always prepare for the examination and shun acts that could undermine the integrity of the examination.
The JAMB Coordinator maintained that the newly introduced computer based test was aimed at curbing examination malpractice, said the board would continue to conduct examination that meet international best practice.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Folashade Odoro (DSP) confirmed the incident. She hinted that the command had commenced investigation into the matter, submitting that the offenders would face the full wreath of the law.
Mrs Odoro said police would continue to work with the board to make the board’s examination free of malpractice.
It would be recalled that JAMB this year introduced one hundred percent computer based test with a view to conducting a credible examination. (VanguardNgr)
