The Federal Government has revealed that it is making effort to ensure that First Degree becomes the minimum teaching qualification in Nigeria.
This was made known by the Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau during a reception ceremony to welcome Finish Ambassador to Nigeria, Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury, on a courtesy call.
According to him the Federal Government will explore all measures to restore the respect, dignity and status of teachers in the country.
The Minister said that the Federal Government is aiming at making first degree the minimum teaching qualification, noted that from 1980 the minimum teaching qualification to teach in school is National Certificate in Education (NCE).
