The 2014/2015 Remedial and IJMB Admission into the School of Preliminary Studies of Federal University, Gashua, has Commenced. See the details as announced by the school Registrar, Alhaji Sule Dauda
The management of the institution invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Remedial and IJMB Programmes of the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State. The Pre-Degree Programmes with duration of 7-9 months for Remedial Programme and 12 months for IJMB, are designed to prepare candidates for any of the degree programmes offered by the University as listed below:

  4. B.Sc. Accounting
  5. B.Sc. Business Administration
  6. B.Sc. Economics and Development Studies
  7. B.Sc. Geograpgy
  8. B.Sc. Political Science
  9. B.Sc. Psychology
Faculty of Science
  1. B.Sc. Biological Sciences
  2. B.Sc. Biochemistry
  3. B.Sc. Chemistry
  4. B.Sc. Computer Science
  5. B.Sc. Mathematics
  6. B.Sc. Physics
Faculty of Agriculture
  1. B. Agriculture
  2. B. Fisheries
  3. B. Forestry and Wildlife Management

The Remedial Programme intensively prepares students with deficiencies in School Certificate Results for West African School Certificate Examination/General Certificate Examination/National Examination Council and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for duration of Seven to Nine Months. Such students will be considered for admission into degree programme after taking the UTME and meeting all necessary O/L requirements.

Admission Requirements Into FUGashua 2014/2015 Remedial Programme

Candidates must have at least four (4) credits (including either English or Mathematics) at not more than two sittings in General Certificate of Education (GCE) ‘O’ level, West African School Certificate or Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or National Examination Council (NECO). In addition, candidate must register and sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the 2015/2016 academic session.
At the end of the programme, candidates will be eligible for admission into 100 level of degree courses at the Federal University, Gashua provided the UTME admission criteria and all necessary requirements of the University are met.

Group and Subject Combinations For FuGashua Preliminary School

All successfully admitted and registered students are placed into one of the five (5) academic groups:-
RS1, RS2, RS3, RA1 or RA2. Each student will have subject combination considering his/her intended future career and the O-Level credits obtained. Subject combinations in each group are:
  1. RS1: Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  2. RS2: Chemistry, Geography, Physics
  3. RS3: Biology, Chemistry, Geography
  4. RA1: Economics, Geography, Government
  5. RA2: Economics, Literature-in-English, Government
    Note: English Language and Mathematics are compulsory.

Minimum Admission Requirements into Federal University, Gashuafor 2014/2015

Admission into Federal University, Gashua, is automatic for candidates who completed the remedial programme and fulfilled the following criteria:
1. Obtained a minimum of 2.0 CGPA from 3 subjects undertaken at the School of Preliminary Studies.
2. Chosen Federal University, Gashua as first choice in UTME and has also obtained the required UTME scores.
3. Remedied all necessary O-Level deficiencies (should have at least five relevant credits including English and Mathematics).

Admission Requirements Into FUGASHUA IJMB Programme2014/2015

Candidates must have at least five credit passes at not more than two sittings including both English
Language and Mathematics in General Certificate of Education (GCE) ‘O’ level, West African School Certificate or Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or National Examination Council (NECO). In addition, candidate must obtain the Direct Entry Form from JAMB for the 2016/2017 academic session. Holders of Senior Islamic Studies Certificate (SISC) are also eligible provided they have at least five credit passes at a sitting including English and Arabic Language. At the end of the programme, candidates will be eligible for admission into 200 level of degree programme at the Federal University, Gashua provided the Direct Entry (DE) admission criteria are met.
Groups and Subject Combinations
Admitted students are placed into various groups depending on the proposed future career and their O/L credits. The groups and respective subject combinations are:
1. BS1: Biology, Chemistry and Physics
2. BS2: Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics
3. BS3: Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics
4. BA1: Economics, Geography and Government
5. BA2: Economics, Literature-in-English, Government
6. BA3: Economics, Sociology and Geography
Minimum Admission Requirements for Direct Entry
  1. Students must have obtained a minimum of 6 points in the IJMB Examination.
    2. Must have purchased Direct Entry (DE) form and have chosen Federal University, Gashua as their first choice.
How To Apply For FUGASHUA IJMB and Remedial Programmes 2014/2015
Application forms are available ONLINE for both Remedial and IJMB programmes at the cost of Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) only. This amount excludes bank charges.
